Common Questions

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal provides long-lasting hair reduction, not complete permanent removal. After completing a full treatment series (typically 6-8 sessions), most patients experience a 70-90% permanent reduction in hair growth. The remaining hair is usually much finer and lighter. Occasional maintenance sessions (1-2 per year) can address any new growth triggered by hormonal changes or other factors.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most patients describe the sensation as a quick snap or pinch, similar to a rubber band against the skin. Sensitivity varies by area — less sensitive areas like the legs are very comfortable, while areas like the bikini line or upper lip may be more noticeable. Our laser has a built-in cooling system that helps minimize discomfort. For more sensitive patients, a topical numbing cream can be applied before treatment.

How should I prepare for my laser hair removal session?

Shave the treatment area 24-48 hours before your appointment. Avoid waxing, plucking, or threading for at least 4-6 weeks prior, as the hair root must be intact for the laser to work. Stay out of the sun and avoid self-tanning products for 2-4 weeks before treatment. Discontinue any photosensitizing medications as advised by Dr. Miles. Arrive with clean skin — no lotions, deodorants, or products on the treatment area.
