SKIN TREATMENT

Chemical Peels

Targeted exfoliation that accelerates cell turnover, revealing smoother, brighter, and more even-toned skin beneath the surface.

What Are Chemical Peels?

A chemical peel is a controlled exfoliation treatment that applies a carefully selected acid solution to the skin's surface. This solution removes damaged outer layers, stimulates cellular renewal, and reveals healthier, more radiant skin underneath.

At Thrive, chemical peels are never one-size-fits-all. Dr. Miles selects the peel type, concentration, and application method based on your specific skin concerns, sensitivity level, and desired outcome. Medical-grade peels go deeper and deliver more significant results than anything available over the counter or at a traditional spa.

Types of Chemical Peels

Light / Superficial Peels
Using mild acids like glycolic or salicylic acid, superficial peels gently exfoliate the outermost layer of skin (epidermis). They're ideal for addressing mild discoloration, rough texture, and dullness with minimal to no downtime. Perfect for first-time peel patients or as a monthly maintenance treatment.

Medium-Depth Peels
Medium peels penetrate the epidermis and upper dermis using acids such as trichloroacetic acid (TCA) or higher-concentration glycolic acid. They deliver more dramatic results for moderate wrinkles, acne scarring, and significant hyperpigmentation. Recovery typically involves 5-7 days of peeling and redness.

Deep Peels
Deep peels penetrate further into the dermis and are reserved for more advanced skin concerns such as deep wrinkles, severe sun damage, or pronounced scarring. These treatments require more recovery time but produce the most transformative results. Dr. Miles carefully evaluates each candidate to ensure safety and optimal outcomes.

  • Active acne and acne scarring

  • Hyperpigmentation and melasma

  • Sun damage and age spots

  • Uneven skin tone and texture

  • Rough, dull, or congested skin

The Treatment Process

Your chemical peel begins with a thorough skin consultation where Dr. Miles assesses your skin type, concerns, and medical history. She'll recommend the appropriate peel type and strength for your goals.

During the treatment, your skin is cleansed and prepped before the peel solution is applied. You may feel a mild tingling or warming sensation — this is normal and indicates the solution is working. The peel is neutralized and removed after the appropriate time, and a soothing post-treatment balm is applied.

The entire in-office visit typically takes 30-45 minutes, depending on the peel depth.

Recovery & Aftercare

Recovery varies based on peel depth. Superficial peels may cause mild flaking for 1-3 days, while medium peels involve more noticeable peeling over 5-7 days. During recovery, you'll be instructed to keep your skin moisturized, avoid sun exposure, and use gentle, physician-recommended products.

Dr. Miles provides detailed post-peel care instructions and is available for follow-up questions throughout your recovery. As your skin heals, you'll notice progressively smoother, brighter, and more even-toned results.
